Importance of Engaging students in learning!

Engaging students in the learning process increase their attention and focus, motivates them to practice higher-level critical thinking skills, and promotes meaningful learning experiences. Instructors who adopt a student-centered approach to instruction increase opportunities for student engagement, which then helps everyone more successfully achieve the course’s learning objectives.

Learning can be likened to dinner parties. When the learning process is dull, students tend to lose focus. Conversely, when they are lively, students maintain their focus and even better grasp what they are being taught. Student engagement is key to student learning and success.

Maintaining students’ enthusiasm in their schooling has been a puzzle that many education professionals have not yet solved. In the conventional classroom-based technique in which the day is segmented and punctuated by bells, students come across different teachers, leaving them feeling disengaged and alienated.

Restructuring students’ learning journey by making it more engaging results in stronger achievement in courses, a stronger satisfaction with the learning experience, and an increase in the rate at which students graduate. Student engagement refers to the degree of curiosity, optimism, interest, attention, and passion students portray when undertaking a course.

So how can student engagement be enhanced?

  1. Attractive blog, true effective teaching takes place when the teacher captures the attention of the students, reads their differentiated needs to reach her lesson goals. As a teacher, I use to give every student a role to practice in the learning experience that most of the time improves the students skills . A simple scenario: to solve a challenging math word problem a group of students can use their learning power to reach a logic conclusion ; a good reader would read the given, a good listener can interpret it in simpler way, other would illustrate the problem to visualize the information, etc.....( rally coach ).
Waiting for your posts and activities that would enable shy students to participate effectively in groups.
